Craniosacral therapy

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is a light touch therapy which enhances natural healing and self-regulating mechanisms of the body. It respects a holistic view onto the body derived from  knowledge from osteopathy, physiology and modern awareness of quantum physics.

A craniosacral therapist tunes into the subtle rhythmic movements of tissues and fluids which are autonomic manifestations of the natural functioning of the human organism. The rhythmic pulsation is an expression of flow of the cerebrospinal fluid, its ascent and descent = the tide. This fluid bathes the brain located in the skull (cranium), and flows to the base of the spine to the sacrum. The proper flow is the basis of a healthy functioning nervous system and thus the whole organism. This rhythmic ” tide ” is not bordered to the spinal cord and brain yet participate in all body structures – bones, tendons and internal organs. The therapist can feel it everywhere in the body.

When the therapist places her hands lightly on you, your body responds to this sensitive touch by beginning to listen to itself. The feeling that you have been heard in the truest sense of the word is a common experience during and after a craniosacral session. She tries to reconnect you with your midline (inner being), your inherent healing sources; this is precisely the state which the body can heal itself the best. BCST is gentle, non-manipulative and non-intrusive, yet it goes very deep into the body’s system. Often time, clients fall asleep or go into a deep meditative state/stillness.

Clients choose for Craniosacral Therapy because they have acute physical problems like headaches or backaches, or long-standing problems of both physical and emotional nature. Others come for ongoing support in their busy lives when they need to restore their health.

Further, conditions such as headaches, migraines, TMJ – jaw joint issues, neck, shoulder or lower back issues, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Emotional Difficulties including Depression and Anxiety, Immune Issues respond well to this therapy. The treatment will address what is most important to the client at the time regardless of what seems to be most important to them or the therapist.

During a treatment session, you will lie fully clothed on a treatment table and experience the light touch of the therapist’s hands. You may feel a deep sense of relaxation and possibly become aware of heat, tingling, pulsations or other sensations. Treatments last approximately 50 minutes. A case history is taken during the first consultation and sessions may include a sensitive discussion about your condition and treatment approach.
